FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ A Texas church where a gunman killed seven people and wounded seven more before taking his own life has marked the tragedy’s 10-year anniversary.
Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth recalled the 12-minute rampage Sunday and played videotaped messages from the families of the victims, who ranged in age from 14 to 36.
The Rev. Al Meredith, Wedgwood’s pastor, said the healing process continues, even a decade later.
Youth pastor Jay Fannin said gunman Larry Gene Ashbrook was using profanity and making derogatory comments about Christianity when he began shooting into a youth service.
Kathy Jo Rogers, whose husband was killed, credited God for sustaining her. She said, “A lot of things we’ll never understand this side of heaven, and we don’t need to, but we can trust him.”
