ATLANTA (AP) _ Organizers of a four-day Christian conference that ended Tuesday in Atlanta say the 22,000 students who took part donated more than $668,000 to international relief organizations.
Passion 2010 officials say a couple attending the conference then matched those gifts to raise the donation total to more than
$1.3 million.
Officials say the funds will be used for causes that include caring for orphans, digging clean water wells, providing food and medical assistance and distributing Bibles in poor countries.
Conference Director Louie Giglio (GIG’-lee-oh) says students attending Passion 2010 came from 1,100 colleges and universities.
At Tuesday’s closing session, he challenged the students to take the faith they expressed during four days of preaching and worship and “live it out” on their campuses.
