Schools to appeal ban on graduations in church

Vincent McCarthy, who is representing Enfield public schools, says the school district will ask the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York to hear an expedited appeal.
Judge Janet Hall ruled that holding the graduations at The First Cathedral in Bloomfield would be an unconstitutional government endorsement of religion. The ceremonies are scheduled for June 23 and 24.
Enfield officials disagree with the ruling, saying religious symbols at the church would be covered.
