GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) _ The Rev. Robert H. Schuller has stepped down as lead pastor of Southern California’s Crystal Cathedral megachurch. Schuller’s daughter, Sheila Schuller Coleman, has taken over the lead role in the church.

The 83-year-old Schuller has been in the pulpit for 55 years and has been host of the “Hour of Power” television show. Schuller will now serve as head of the church’s board of directors.

Coleman tells the Los Angeles Times that her father will still make appearances at the church and continue to preach “until the day he dies.”

The appointment of the 59-year-old Coleman comes two years after Schuller’s son, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, split from the church. The younger Schuller had been groomed to take over for his father.
