Focus on the Family Lays off 110

750 employees — about half the staff it had in 2002.
Focus spokesman Gary Schneeberger says the cuts come amid a recession that has impacted donors. He says the current budget is
$105 million, $27 million less than the previous fiscal year.
Schneeberger says it’s also possible that some donors stopped giving when Focus on the Family’s founder, Dr. James Dobson, left the ministry and its radio broadcast in February.
But Schneeberger says millions of people still listen to the broadcast and visit the Focus Web site every day, and thousands receive more direct personal help daily with their family needs.
