Young Life

Black Hawk County Young Life is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of teens by introducing them to Jesus and helping them to grown in their faith. The Young Life facilities provide a safe place for teens where they can escape the pressures of the world around them and find positive influences instead.

Black Hawk County Young Life is in need of adult volunteers willing and eager to work with teens and show God’s love to them. If you’d like to be a part of Young Life, you can call area director Andy Walser at (319) 290-8845, or visit their website.

Have you heard “Live the Promise” yet? Susie Larson is on every Saturday at noon with a brand new show.Here’s how Susie describes her new show:

My vision for Live the Promise is to offer a show that is rich in content and that is biblically grounded. Each program has its own Scriptural theme around which the interviews and discussions are based. My guests will include Christian recording artists, authors, pastors, and those involved in parachurch ministries. Together, with the listener, we’ll have a round table discussion on what it means to walk out your faith in a tangible, effective way.

Eye of the Needle

Eye of the Needle in Waterloo works to provide clothing and household items for free to those in need. Currently, Eye of the Needle operates out of First National Building on Sycamore Street in Waterloo.

Eye of the Needle is open Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays from 9am to 4pm and Tuesdays from 1:30-4pm.

The Cleft Ministries

The Cleft Ministries is a Biblical counseling ministry. They seek to help those who are struggling to cope with painful problems by applying the principles from His Word. This counseling not only helps the person to change their behavior, but also seeks to help them find the heart problem, enabling them to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to counseling, they offer classes that encourage personal commitment to a lifelong process of transformation into the image of Christ; a study group for those who are called to become Biblical counselors; and a mentoring program for those who wish to encourage others who are struggling.

House of Hope

House of Hope in Cedar Rapids is a program designed to Empower, Encourage, and Equip women in Eastern Iowa.

House of Hope provides classes and one-time seminars in addition to housing up to 6 women at a time who are need and mentoring women with Biblical encouragement and prayer.
